Given how good 1995’s No Protection was it’s somewhat surprising that Massive Attack and Mad Professor haven’t joined forces more often since. No matter – Massive Attack Vs. Mad Professor Part II (Mezzanine Remix Tapes ‘98) scratches our itch for more soundsystem versions of tracks by the Bristol legends. As might be apparent from the record’s title, here we find the Jamaican dub legend focussing on Massive Attack’s 1998 LP Mezzanine, turning out remixes of six tracks (including ‘Teardrop’ and ‘Inertia Creeps’). Also included here are two Mad Professor dubs of Massive Attack originals from around the same period – their Siouxsie And The Banshees cover ‘Superpredators’ and ‘Wire’, a track the duo originally cut for the film Welcome To Sarajevo.
