LCD Soundsystem is an American rock band from Brooklyn, New York, formed in 2002 by James Murphy, co-founder of DFA Records. Their music has been described as dance-punk and dance-rock, electronic rock and electronica, art rock, alternative dance, post-punk revival, and indie rock. LCD Soundsystem is their debut studio album, released on January 24, 2005. The album encompasses genres that range from dance-punk to electronica to indie rock to dance music. It was critically acclaimed upon release and was nominated for the 2006 Grammy Award for Best Electronic/Dance Album.
