Emma Ruth Rundler – Some Heavy Ocean
Emma Ruth Rundle is an American singer-songwriter, guitarist and visual artist based in Louisville, Kentucky. Formerly of the Nocturnes, she has released three solo albums and is a current member of Red Sparowes and Marriages. Her sound is an eclectic mix of folk, experimental rock, and metal, prioritizing ambience and texture over traditional rock tropes. She has cited Kate Bush and David Lynch as influences. Some Heavy Ocean is her first official studio album, released on May 20, 2014 by Sargent House. Writing for the album took place between summer 2012 and 2013, and it was co-produced by Rundle and labelmate Chris Common, with recording completed at Sargent House’s in-home studio. Rundle has named “Living With the Black Dog” as her favorite track on the record.
