Ghostpoet – I Grow Tired But Dare Not To Fall Asleep

Ghostpoet (AKA Obaro Ejimiwe) is an alt-rock artist who specialises in spoken word and has been nominated twice for the UK’s Mercury Prize. Since the beginning of his career, he has avoided identifying his music as belonging to a particular genre. Although he has been characterised as a hip hop / trip hop artist, in recent times Ghostpoet has grown more comfortable with his increasing connection to the alternative rock and electronica genres. I Grow Tired But Dare Not Fall Asleep is his fifth studio album released on May 1st 2020. According to The Independent review of the album, “with nods to artists as diverse as pared-back post-punk band Gang of Four, 1980s art-pop auteurs Talk Talk and Brazilian tropicalismo pioneer Caetano Veloso, I Grow Tired… is an assured study in texture, shaped by prominent basslines and deft arrangements of synths and strings. It also marks a step change for Ejimiwe, who took on production duties for the first time.”
