Echo & The Bunnymen – The John Peel Sessions
Echo & the Bunnymen are an English rock band formed in Liverpool in 1978. Echo & the Bunnymen’s original line-up consisted of vocalist Ian McCulloch, guitarist Will Sergeant and bass player Les Pattinson, supplemented by a drum machine. By 1980, Pete de Freitas had joined as the band’s drummer, and their debut album, Crocodiles, met with critical acclaim and made the UK Top 20. John Peel saw the Bunnymen supporting The Fall at the Factory club in Manchester on 20th July 1979 and helped to bring the group to a wider audience. In this compilation, the band presents an archival dig for all of the sessions they recorded for the legendary John Peel show during their formative years from 1979 to 1983. Many of the 21 songs do not appear on their early albums, as the band actually used the sessions to experiment with new material.
