The Tiger Lillies – Devil’s Fairground

The Tiger Lillies are a cult British musical trio formed in 1989 by singer-songwriter Martyn Jacques. Described as the forefathers of Brechtian Punk Cabaret, the Tiger Lillies are well known for their unique sound and style which merges “the macabre magic of pre-war Berlin with the savage edge of punk”. Devil’s Fairground is a symphonic album that takes the listener on a tour through the sordid underbelly of post-soviet Prague, where Jacques’s eye finds poetry in legless drunks, bored hookers and fatherless children. The band recorded the album in Prague in September 2018 live with a full orchestra.
