The Strokes – Is This It (Limited Edition)
The Strokes are an American rock band from New York City. Formed in 1998, the band is composed of singer Julian Casablancas, guitarists Nick Valensi and Albert Hammond Jr., bassist Nikolai Fraiture, and drummer Fabrizio Moretti. The Strokes have been said to be, “as influential to their era as the Velvet Underground or the Ramones were to theirs,” by Lizzie Goodman in her book on the New York City music scene and has heavily influenced bands like The Killers, Arctic Monkeys, and Franz Ferdinand. Is This It is their debut studio album released on July 30, 2001. It received critical acclaim, with many praising it for its charisma and rhythm, which often referenced the works of 1970s garage rock bands. The album has earned Casablancas and The Strokes tremendous respect across various artists in the alternative music scene and is considered to be crucial in the development of other alternative bands and of the post-millennial music industry. It was also featured in several publications’ lists of the best albums of the 2000s and of all time.
