Miles Davis was an American jazz trumpeter, bandleader, and composer. He is among the most influential and acclaimed figures in the history of jazz and 20th-century music. Davis adopted a variety of musical directions in a five-decade career that kept him at the forefront of many major stylistic developments in jazz. The Guardian described him as “a pioneer of 20th-century music, leading many of the key developments in the world of jazz.” Seven Steps to Heaven is the eighth studio album on Columbia Records, released in 1963. Recorded at Columbia’s 30th Street Studios in Manhattan, and at Columbia Studios in Los Angeles, it presents the new Miles Davis Quintet with Herbie Hancock, Tony Williams, George Coleman and Ron Carter. This LP includes a bonus track (track B4).
