Miles Davis – ‘Round About Midnight

Miles Davis was an American jazz trumpeter, bandleader, and composer. He is among the most influential and acclaimed figures in the history of jazz and 20th-century music. Davis adopted a variety of musical directions in a five-decade career that kept him at the forefront of many major stylistic developments in jazz. The Guardian described him as “a pioneer of 20th-century music, leading many of the key developments in the world of jazz.” ‘Round About Midnight is an album released by Columbia in March 1957, the first of Davis with his “first great quintet” with John Coltrane on saxophone. A great example of modern jazz conceived and executed in the very best style, and one of the essential recordings in the history of recorded music.
