Mastodon – Blood Mountain

Mastodon is an American heavy metal band from Atlanta, Georgia, formed in 2000. Their music has been described as progressive metal, sludge metal, alternative metal, stoner rock, psychedelic metal, experimental metal, and groove metal. According to BBC, they are one of the most ambitious, most fearless, most fun heavy metal bands to have breached the mainstream. Blood Mountain is their third album, released on September 2006. It received high critical praise, it was voted the best album of 2006 in the UK Metal Hammer magazine end-of year polls and received a nomination for a Grammy for the song Colony of Birchmen. Blood Mountain includes guest appearances by Scott Kelly of Neurosis, Josh Homme of Queens of the Stone Age, as well as keyboard player Isaiah “Ikey” Owens of The Mars Volta and singer Cedric Bixler-Zavala of At the Drive-In and The Mars Volta.
