DEVO – Hardcore Volume 1

27,00

Devo is an American rock band formed in 1973. Their classic lineup consisted of two sets of brothers, the Mothersbaughs (Mark and Bob) and the Casales (Gerald and Bob), along with Alan Myers. Devo is known for their music and stage shows mingling kitsch science fiction themes, deadpan surrealist humor and mordantly satirical social commentary. Their early, pre-Warner Bros. dissonant songs use synthetic instrumentation and time signatures proven influential on subsequent popular music, particularly new wave, industrial, and alternative rock artists. Hardcore Volume One is the first of two collections of demos. It was out of print for over twenty years; however, it was re-issued on Superior Viaduct in 2013. The Hardcore Devo albums are collections of 4-track basement demos recorded by the band between 1974 and 1977. Some tracks are earlier versions of some of Devo’s best known tracks that would later be re-recorded and used on subsequent Devo records (e.g. “Jocko Homo”, “Mongoloid”), but a majority of the tracks were never re-used and remained unreleased until the Hardcore Devo compilations.
